1 review for The Art of the Violin Petteri Iivonen – Volume 1 (Tape)
Rated 5 out of 5
Jorge Martinez –
The tape finally arrives to Bogotá, Colombia, where I live, and I have time the last
weekend to hear it. First, I enjoy the tape a LOT. I like the sonics, the interpretation and the music.
I like the clearness and detail of the recording, revealing the intensity of the
interpretation, the texture and sonority of the instrument. Sometime, during the
Ysayë Sonata it seems like two violins where interacting!
I have three of your works (these one, Janaki String Trio and Frédéric Rosselet),
and I like a lot all of them.
I would like to explore larger ensembles and jazz and will appreciate your choices in that direction

It makes me very happy to know how much you are enjoying this album. I agree with you about Petteri. I am constantly amazed by how his “only five fingers” on his left hand can sound like multiple musicians each with distinct and distinctive voices. Kudos to Petteri for sure.
If you like orchestra and “large ensembles,” you might very much like to hear one or both of Sasha Cooke’s albums.
We have Six jazz albums at Yarlung and they were all recorded (in different years) in Cammilleri Hall. I am thrilled with the sound and the playing on all six. You asked for recommendations so here are the urls:
